Theme: Give Thanks Always to the Lord.
Take-Away-Point: Let our Lifestyle, Actions, and Decisions Reflect God’s Love.
Hello family, please join us in praising and and thanking our faithful God. Hope Church Moreno Valley celebrated her second year anniversary yesterday. It has been a tough and rough journey with its twists and turns along the road. Through it all, our Savior Jesus Christ through the leading of the Holy Spirit has kept us going. Praise God.
There is the popular saying that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. That is very true for every follower of Christ. The Christian race is not meant for the lily-livered or the faint hearted. The Christian race is not a 100 meters dash, the Christian race is a marathon, it requires endurance, perseverance, it requires commitment, it requires patience, the Christian race requires faithfulness, love, and trust in the Lord Jesus. That is why Jesus said in Luke 9:62 “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Today my heart is full of joy to our Savior Jesus Christ who has kept Hope Church Moreno Valley alive two years and still going strong.
The Holy Bible encourages us to give thanks to God and our Savior Jesus Christ in all circumstances, highlighting gratitude as a central aspect of our faith and worship as we see in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
Psalm 136:1 and Psalm 107:1 both point out two critical characteristics of God that will always encourage us to show our gratitude and appreciation of who He is, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
for He is good! God’s goodness is a core character or quality of God.
This phrase confirms God's moral perfection and compassion, which is a repeated theme throughout the Old Testament.
The goodness of God is demonstrated in His creation, provision, and covenant faithfulness (what He promises, He fulfils). In Exodus 33:19, And the LORD said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy.” In this verse from the book of Exodus 33, God declares His goodness to Moses and by extension to all faithful believers.
I want to believe that we are all recipients of God’s goodness in one form or another. We experience it in the beauty of nature, we experience it in our family lives, we experience God’s goodness in His daily provisions for us and so on.
For His mercy endures forever. This phrase highlights God’s lovingkindness, His mercy, and steadfast love. It shows God's covenant loyalty and faithfulness to His people. What He says He will do, He always does that is what was written in Numbers 23:19 which reads, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (NLT). Man may lie, cheat, or walk out of a promise he made in the past, but not our Heavenly Father.
God’s promises are reliable and everlasting. Our Savior Jesus Christ fulfilled God’s steadfast love through His sacrifice and death on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins which ultimately earned us our redemption and the opportunity to spend eternity with God the Father.
This is why all true followers of Jesus Christ across the globe must cultivate the habit of giving thanks and gratitude to our Maker through His Son Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:15 states that “All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”
Our giving thanks to God is truly for our own benefits and for the glory of God as more people will be drawn to the throne of grace through the testimonies that we share about the goodness and mercy of God.
As you go out this week, spare no cost in giving our Lord Jesus the very best of your worship and your thanksgiving.
God bless you until I see you next week.
I wish you a meaningful week.
