1 John 4:7-12

7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. 10 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

TEXT: 1 John 4:7-12
Theme: Love others As Christ Loved Us.
Take Home Point: We Need to Obey Jesus Command to Love others.

In these five verses of the 1 John 4:7-12, the word Love was mentioned twelve (12) times. There two rules we must obey for us to be totally complete in God, first, we must love and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior as John 3:16 tells us The greatest love story on earth as it states “In these five verses of the 1 John 4:7-12, the word Love was mentioned twelve (12) times. There two rules we must obey for us to be totally complete in God, first, we must love and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior as John 3:16 tells us The greatest love story on earth as it states “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

What can be greater than that? God sacrificed His only Son Jesus Christ, ignoring the beatings, pains, mockery, humiliation and painful death on the cross of Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.  That is why we must surrender our lives to the Messiah Jesus, believe in Him, and trust Him for the salvation of our souls.

Secondly, we must love one another as Jesus has commanded us.  This command from God through His Son Jesus Christ is stated clearly in the Bible in John 15:12-14: 12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.”

To love others like Jesus loved us means that we must love everyone around us irrespective of their background, status, or nationality.  It means our willingness to forgive those who wrong us no matter what, it means showing kindness, compassion, and making sacrifices for those around us as Christ did for us.  Our world will be a better and safe place for us if we simply obey the commands of Jesus.

Until I come your way next week, keep loving others like Christ did love us.

I wish you a meaningful week.
