John 8:21-24
21 So he said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.” 22 So the Jews said, “Will he kill himself, since he says, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?” 23 He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”

TEXT: John 8:21-24
Theme: A Warning Filled with Love.
Take-Away-Point: Heaven Is Real and Hell Is Real.
In his book The Treasury of David pg. 4.328, Charles H. Spurgeon quotes Thomas Fuller in this statement, “You cannot repent too soon, because you do not know how soon it may be too late.”
While we are alive and mentally competent, we all have the opportunity to believe in Christ for our eternal salvation. But the second we die, it becomes too late to repent, such a person will be lost forever. In this text, our Savior Jesus Christ is warning us to believe in Him while there is still time, while we are still alive.
At the same time, Jesus’ warning contains a word of invitation and hope for everyone in (8:24b), “For unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” Here is the invitation, if you believe that I am the Lord, who I claim to be, you will not die in your sins, you will be saved and earn the right to spend eternity with me. That invitation is still open to all today.
I am appealing to every one of us today, not to harden our hearts against the light that God has given us to the point where we cross a line in this life and we can’t go back as the popular saying goes, “there is no repentance in the grave.”
I wish you all a meaningful week as we boldly declare that Jesus is Lord.
